Starcraft 2 (Current)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0pB7h6zg00 (if link doesn't work type in "Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty (PC, Mac) Walkthrough - Part 1 [HD]") This video shows Starcraft 2, the sequel to Starcraft, which was mentioned earlier in the blog. Most of the video is the beginning cutscene of Tychus Findley (a main character) being released from his cryogenic prison and into a marine suit. After that you see Jim Raynor, another main character, in a bar watching Arcturus Mengsk slander his name on the news, while glancing at a photo of Sarah Kerrigan, an ally of his who fell to the Zerg at New Gettysburg to be transformed into the Queen of Blades, aka the leader of the Zerg. The video then shows the start of the first mission, Liberation Day. Changes from Starcraft 1 to 2: 3D is enabled, a lot of the technology used in the cinematics and such is more up to date, among other things. One of the fundamental changes is that players now have access to a system called real I.D. This means if you personally know someone you can invite them (invite their email address) to see both their actual name and their regular I.D. By this I mean there is still a system where you have a username that is displayed to the general public, so only the people you wish will know your actual name.

  1. This game was kinds scary and seemed very real. The picture is so clear. It is neat to play with other people you know. This is a different form of communication through video game playing. Really cool video.

  2. This was really dark, sci-fi, and scary in the beginning. The graphics are very clear and have changed so much over the years. Many people have joined the online gaming, and play in teams, groups and on an individual basis. It is a form of communication, and a growing form of entertainment. It is changing our culture, as we are no longer playing outside (in the sunshine, fresh air) but are playing inside in dark rooms.

  3. This was sci-fi, and kind of dark video game. It is a form of communication, and a growing form of entertainment. It is changing the way people live now. The graphics are very clear and have changed so much over the years. Many people have joined the online gaming, and play in teams, groups and on an individual basis. I also think people get to addicted to games and lose track of time.

  4. This started out like the beginning of a science fiction movie and the graphics are amazing. Games today are a lot different than they used to be. It’s not only a form of entertainment but also a new way to communicate with people. You can invite people to play with you and play as groups from your own homes.

  5. It's really amazing how games have evolved since Atari. Now it seems you're just not playing a game, you are interacting and participating in a story. I can see how certain people can lose themselves in the virtual worlds that video games have become. It's so much more than just pointing, shooting and scoring. Gamers are strategizing, interacting, feeling emotions other than competitive ones; they are LIVING the games. It's a mind-boggling concept, and a little disturbing, too.

  6. I have never played this game, but I can tell you from your vivid description of it I am going to have to check it out. I typically stick to realistic games, or sports games but this seems like a nice way to stray from the common path and enjoy something different. Thanks for the suggestion!

  7. Video games have come a long way, at first I thought I was watching a movie. I am not really sure how you play these types of games...does it change everytime you play it or do you control where it is going? These games are out of my realm, I still play Mario Brothers. The graphics were very life-like and the scenery was intense. The way the characters moved reminded me of Second Life.
