Donkey Kong Country Returns (Wii)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ov6rRDZrkho (if link is not working type in "Donkey Kong Country Returns 100% walkthrough Part -1 ( Intro and Jungle 1-1 )) This video shows Donkey Kong Country Returns, which is the present version (some consider it to be a remake, but that is not entirely true since tikis are the enemy instead of kremlins) of the Donkey Kong Country series (in which the first was covered on this blog). Donkey Kong Country Returns is a platform game like it's predecessor, but unlike the original it is presented in a different way. By this I mean in the original Donkey Kong Country, everything was purely 2d. That is not the case anymore with more then one area being on the screen sometimes as was the case once during this video. The second area appears above the first and much smaller, but still decently visible. Another difference from this new Donkey Kong Country Returns and the SNES Donkey Kong Country is that true co-op is possible. By this I mean in the SNES Donkey Kong only one player could play at one time in co-op mode and could switch to the other player whenever. In the new Donkey Kong Country, two players can simultaneously play together with the option of having Diddy Kong ride Donkey Kong's back.

  1. So in a sense the advance from a one player game to a co-op game brings people to play simultaneously. It seems many "old-skool" games that were one player are becoming more advance. They also give a message of "playing together" as one person. One helps the other in need in the game-camaraderie.

  2. Will this is a great post. Looking at the Donkey Kong game from 1994 I can definitely see how the graphics have changed. Also, there is not as much in the background as there are in games presently made. Offering the game where people can play simultaneously is a great idea. It makes playing the game more interesting. This is another example of technology at work. Thank you for the great post. Mary Ann Reday.

  3. It is interesting to see how much these games have changed. There are many more options on these newer versions. This picture is much clearer and I love the two player.

  4. I remember the first edition of Donkey Kong and can see how different the game is played now. Graphics are much realistic in today's game playing, along with two players.

  5. Wow DK has changed over the past years. The game is better because of technology changing making the game look better with more detailed graphics that look real. With this game there are many different options now. Also, instead of one player being able to only play now you can play with two players.

  6. just from the start of donkey Kong it has transformed into something ahead of its time. being able to interact with the game and also the advances in technology make that game close to real life. also with advances in technology, it makes the game that much better and also better for other people playing it.

  7. It is amazing to see how much games have changed. I used to love playing Donkey Kong and most of its squeals since the arcade days. Multiplayer also adds a lot. Games have advanced from the single player arcade games to multiplayer online. And any game that can incorporate multiplayer will always be more popular than single player games. The video was also cool since I have not played this game before.

  8. I have never played this game or the original but I watched the video and think that it looks like a very fun game. I like how to players can play together to accomplish the goals. This can make it easier to finish the game.

  9. I must say i was a victim to the original Donkey Kong addiction! With all the new advancements in technology the games get better and better and a little tougher. I enjoy playing the old school games but every now and then i dont mind testing my skills with a newer more difficult video game. Occasionally i like to play the old school games with my younger brother and although there are less buttons and moves he still cant get the hang of it.

  10. I remember playing Donkey Kong when I was younger! I was not the biggest fan of it but it was very entertaining. I played the one for Super Nintendo. I still play it sometimes over my buddies house since he has every game system known to man. I hope one day to get an onld super nintendo on my own sometime to relive my childhood games!
