Donkey Kong Country (Super Nintendo version)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwN_Dpsdnuw (If link is not working type in SNES Donkey Kong Country - Jungle Hijinks) This video shows the SNES version of Donkey Kong Country, an early console game. Donkey Kong Country is a platform game, meaning you go from one side of the level to the other while avoiding obstacles, pitfalls and enemies. The characters in Donkey Kong Country are more detailed then Street Fighter. Donkey Kong Country characters also show emotions based upon what the characters do in certain events (Diddy stomps on his hat if you lose a minigame for example) which adds some comedy to failure and praise to success. The backgrounds also show in certain levels changes in scenery such as in the video when the time of the day changes from day to night as you end the first level.

  1. Will, i can remember playing there games when i was younger and just seeing how much they have changed is amazing. playing donkey kong and then play cod or any other game from the past years put it to shame. technology has made games like donkey kong be considered old school and has just been forgotten about. but great video to just show what everything was about back then.

  2. Will, It is interesting to see the progression of the graphics in this game. The early games were a bit primitive when looking at the background and what you could do with this game. Like all technology, Donkey Kong had to keep up with it and constantly improve the game to keep people interested in playing it.

  4. Cody: according to Wikipedia, "Donkey Kong Country Returns, known as Donkey Kong Returns (ドンキーコング リターンズ Donkī Kongu Ritānzu?) in Japan, is a side-scrolling 2.5D platform game developed by Retro Studios and released by Nintendo for the Wii console on November 21, 2010, in North America, December 3, 2010, in Europe, and on December 9, 2010, in Japan.[1][2][3][5] It is the series's first traditional home console installment since Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, and also the first Donkey Kong Country entry not to involve Rare during the development.[1]" I also loved this game as a kid. My little brother just received Donkey Kong Country Returns for a birthday present! I am very excited to play!

  5. I don't ever recall playing Donkey Kong. It just did not seem like the kind of game I would be interested in playing. I was more of a Mortal Kombat gamer myself. The only thing I know about the game is that it was originally supposed to be called Monkey Kong. That is in fact a typo on the creators but they thought Donkey Kong fit well.

  6. I absolutely love this game. Though the SNES was a little before me, my brother loved it a lot. And we used to play mario kart together as well as other games, including donkey kong. My brother tells me that when this game came out it was the biggest thing ever! Just like new games today, this game was were it was at, and he said everyone was talking about it in school. I can agree, it made the game feel like it was 3d even though it technically wasn't, and the scenery is awesome in this game.

  8. THis is interesting, Keep your intimate thoughts to yourselves as to not destroy our nation. Were there spies at my parents dinner table? could 've been, but not likely. I do find it a little scary to think of how big of a war that was and it was fought over seas but word of mouth back then was still very powerful.
